  • Occupational Therapy (OT) is a client centered health care profession that enables people of all ages to participate in daily living. The word occupation refers to 3 main categories:

    1) self-care (e.g. dressing)

    2) productivity (e.g. work, school)

    3) leisure (e.g. games, hobbies)

Using a holistic approach, occupational therapists view the client as an integral part of the therapy team and work collaboratively to help them feel confident in participating in their daily occupations. For more information on OT, visit the American Occupational Therapy Association.

  • Does your child crave or avoid movement? Do they have difficulty tolerating certain textures, smells, or sounds? Is it difficult for your child to manage their emotions or move forward from big feelings? Does your child have difficulty with buttons, zippers, or handwriting? Does your child frequently bump into people, sit with poor posture, and/or present as disorganized? If you answered yes to any of these questions then your child may benefit from OT treatment.

  • The aim of each session is to work on your child’s individualized OT goals with fun, engaging activities. Together, we create a schedule for each session with time at the end for feedback.

  • Sessions are typically 30, 45, or 60 minutes, depending on your child’s needs and what works best for your family.
