I’m Lauren Baker, a New York State-licensed occupational therapist
With over 15 years of experience as an occupational therapist and more than 20 years working with children, I bring a thoughtful, collaborative approach to care across clinical, consultative, and supervisory settings.
My Background
Early Career in Toronto
Before moving to New York City, I worked at Ellen Yack and Associates Paediatric Therapy Services, Toronto’s leading private practice, as an Occupational Therapist and Assistant Director. I also worked as an Occupational Therapy Consultant for The Griffin Centre, a non-profit, multi-service, mental health agency servicing youth, adults, and their families, and as an Occupational Therapist for Giant Steps Toronto, a school and therapy center.
Leadership & Advanced Training in New York
After relocating to New York City in 2015, I worked as a Clinical Supervisor at a preschool where I managed over 25 team members, including occupational therapists, physical therapists, speech language pathologists and social workers. Additionally, I directed the provision of therapy services for students. For 10 years, I worked at The Gateway School under the roles of Occupational Therapist and Coordinator of Academic Supports. I led the Occupational Therapy Department while managing a large student caseload and providing ongoing professional development to staff.
In 2018, I completed advanced training for Collaborative and Proactive Solutions (CPS), an evidence-based problem-solving approach for students, teachers and families, and became a certified CPS provider in 2019.
From Toronto to New York, I’ve pursued my passion for professional development by organizing workshops and lecturing at various institutions, including Columbia University and PACE University.
A Little More About Me
I live in Brooklyn with my family and I love the vibrant community. Outside of work, I love exploring New York, any time in nature, and connecting with my family in Toronto.
